UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF RAIL LOGISTICS IN AFRICA
African Rail Company 'ARC' was founded on a firm belief in the future of rail transportation in Africa and a vision of a group that would lead the rail logistics industry in the continent.
Our versatile team draws on many years in the rail logistics industry to bring a thorough understanding of clients needs and the demands of operating successful businesses in Africa.
We are committed to the growth and development of rail haulage in this vast continent and to the pursuit of excellence as a service provider to our clients.
ARC owns and manages an independent fleet of rolling stock, enabling freedom to offer tailored rail logistics solutions along the region's extensive rail network.
Through partnership agreements with the regional railway operators, ARC can also absorb unexpected increases in demand whilst still offering competitive rates.
ARC continues to invest in its rail capabilities, knowing that the solution to the region’s unique logistical challenges lies in unlocking the potential of rail transportation.
A key area of service differentiation for ARC is through traffic movement-monitoring and tracking services to create and deliver a guaranteed and predictable logistics solution.
ARC has deployed highly experienced rail operations crews to organise loading, clearance and independent inspectorate services, ensuring efficiency, reliability and security of service.
ARC also coordinates border crossings and customs clearance on behalf of clients using its clearing agents at all major border posts.
Thanks to strong relationships with the rail network operators, ARC operates between all major trading hubs in the region.
These relationships enable ARC to offer point to point logistics solutions and liaise with the network operators on behalf of customers.
Where transportation is required beyond the rail network, ARC arranges intermodal solutions to link the rail corridors via road and sea.
ARC is experienced in the management of inter-modal solutions and can readily identify the most appropriate system for each project and location.
Headquartered in the U.A.E., ARC operates in Botswana, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
This regional presence affords ARC a strong operational base integrating both international and regional cargo movement hubs for exports and imports.
ARC has developed a strong working relationship with the regional rail operators. In particular, ARC works closely with BR, CFM, NRZ, TFR and ZRL through a number of initiatives that give ARC strategic advantages on both access and cost of rail equipment and allocation.
